When it comes to making positive changes in our lives, we often hinder the process by coming up with a whole lot of excuses to justify our lack of discipline towards doing what needs to be done to change for the better.

Many subconsciously have allowed these excuses to keep them in one place for so long.
Here are 7 common excuses you must drop to change for the better.

“That’s just the way I am:” When people try to excuse their behaviour by saying “that’s just the way Iam” they are only giving up responsibility for their lives. Come on! You can actually change many things about you if you want to. Change is a necessary aspect of life. You are not meant to remain the way you are. We should always strive to be better than we were yesterday.

“I Don’t See Any Need For A Change”: You may be ok with the way things are at the moment but that does not mean that there is no room for improvement. The truth is that because it is working for you now does not mean that it will always work for you. If we refuse to change things around us will and the result will be determined by those changes we made or refuse to make.

“I Don’t Think It’s Going to Work”: There’s no way you will know if it’s going to work until you give it a try. We actually grow with experiences. Nothing works on its own. It is actually your responsibility to make it work.

“I Don’t Know How or Where To Begin”: Most times we only use this as an excuse not to do anything about the change we need to make. The truth is that if we are truly keen on making the needed change somehow we will figure out the step to take to make it work. Most times, the “how” is revealed only if we take a step or action towards it. According to Jim Rohn, “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

“It’s Not That Important:” It’s important because it is your life. Any change in the right direction no matter how seemingly small, is a progress towards a better and happier life. If you don’t think that is important enough, I wonder what is.

“I Don’t Have The Time Now”: Putting things off only makes them harder. I have learnt we tend to pay double for whatever we fail to do when we were actually supposed to do it. The truth is that whatever we give priority to, we usually have time for.

“I just Can’t Change”: We all are capable of change. The only thing is that making a positive change is usually not easy. It will demand a certain level of patience and perseverance for you to see the change come. That’s reason many choose the easier way by remaining the way they are and cooking up excuses to avoid putting in the effort it demands. However if others have achieved it, you too can!
